to heaven and back
you almost traveled
the four corners of the
classroom...
finding peace perhaps
again, amid the hoopla
despite exam day.
i followed your trail
with my eyes--glancing
until you caught me
the moment you commenced
by the chair near the window...
found your spot
at last!
alas, you complained
"not in the mode" you kidded
while handing the white note--
witnessing in silence
words wooing words
between you and me.
and we left the room
said our goodbyes
as a teacher
and a student normally do.
we never looked at each other
then, but glances caught
in between silences--
spoke enough saying,
for at least ten minutes
we traveled to heaven
and back.
